Kettering 13 Bedford Athletic 21

Bedford Athletic maintained an unbeaten start to the season with a 21 points to 13 win at Kettering.

On a wet and windy day the sides shared two tries each and so it was the kicking of Leo Mortimer that made the difference on the scoreboard. He kicked three first half penalties to establish a 9-5 lead for his side. Kettering hit back with scores either side of half time to lead 13-9. But Bedford Athletic wore their opponents down. Ben Middleton touched down to re-establish the lead on the hour mark and then from a free kick at the end of the game Josh Cassell crossed for a try with Mortimer converting to make the scoreline more comfortable.

Bedford Athletic return to action at home to Lutterworth on Saturday with a 3pm kick off at Putnoe Wood.
