Bedford Athletic again struggled at near neighbours Tring going down 43 points to 24.
Tring were in the ascendancy from the kick off and dominated the scoreboard in the opening quarter. Three tries in that quarter gave them an ascendancy they would never relinquish and as they were all converted it also established a 21-0 advantage. Bedford Athletic got a foothold in the game with a Robbie Locke try on 26 minutes, Leo Mortimer adding the conversion but Tring collected the try bonus point on the half hour mark with their fourth try. A Leo Mortimer penalty before half time gave the visitors some hope for the second half but they turned round 26 points to 10 in arrears.
Bedford Athletic showed resilience and determination at the start of the second period and nearly fought back into the game with Robbie Locke and Steve Smith adding tries in the 51st and 58th minutes. With two Mortimer conversions to boot the score had narrowed to 26-24 before a Tring penalty re-opened the gap to five points on the hour mark. In the final quarter the visitors were unable to add to their score and realise either a try or losing bonus point. Instead it was Tring who finished in the ascendancy adding tries in both the 76th minute and with the last move of the game to claim victory by a nineteen point margin, which in the end was a little higher than the ebb and flow of the game might have warranted.
Bedford Athletic return to home territory this Saturday when they entertain Rochford Hundred at Putnoe Wood with a 3.00pm kick off.
